As part of YOU ARE HERE. Central Asia, Fondazione Elpis hosts a series of two meetings curated by Sheida Ghomashchi, designed to explore themes related to the exhibition. After Tajikistan in the context of the Turkish-Persian world, which featured anthropologist Aeron O’Connor, the second meeting will take place on December 11th and will feature curator Sheida Ghomashchi in conversation with Uzbek artist and filmmaker Saodat Ismailova, whose video Her Five Lives is part of the exhibition. During the conversation, Ismailova will delve into the role of cultural syncretism and the influence of pre-Islamic religions, particularly Zoroastrianism, in the formation of the symbolic universe of the Central Asian region and in relation to her work.

The event is part of a collaboration that connects YOU ARE HERE. Central Asia with Saodat Ismailova's solo exhibition A Seed Under Our Tongue at Pirelli HangarBicocca. The event at Fondazione Elpis will be followed by a walk-through of the exhibition with Saodat Ismailova and Sheida Ghomashchi, which will take place on Thursday, December 12th at 7:00 pm at Pirelli HangarBicocca.
